I'm gonna start off with the fact that I believe this is a really nice approach to this particular scene from the game itself. The angular perspective, playing with how the boss battle is fought and with the environment itself, is a bold take that makes the image immediately interesting to the eye. It draws you in and makes you want to study it further, to bask in every possible details that can be found.

The characters and setting, also, is very respectful of the original scene in itself. The proportions, the position of various elements and the numerous details makes this a solid adaptation of a memorable encounter. Combine this with correct proportions, vivid poses and expressions from the central character and it does show a genuine care and enthusiasm in the picture itself.

Something that I feel was perhaps a little off, though, is how busy the drawing is. While adding various elements around a central one can usually help focus on central concepts, I feel that there are too many in this one that kind of detract from the core concept. While quite a few are indeed from the game itself, some elements either merge or clash against one another, making some elements either disappear in terms of presence, or make them a little more difficult to truly discern. The oil slicks on top of the water combined with the chains and the reflections on the surface are, perhaps, a little too close to one another, making three potent ideas a little moot as they merge, making them lose the unique additions that they could have brought to the image.

Another thing that does not help in this regard is the over-abundance of cold colors, making it a little more difficult to truly separate every single elements. With very few neutral or warm colors to help with the contrast, it makes the water and its surface, as well as the palette of the Mermaid Queen a little over-abundant.

The depth shown with the horizon, the size of the characters and with the angular approach as a point-of-view does help a lot with clarifying a good number of elements, though. It shows an ambition that is difficult to remove from the concept and your approach to it, which is a very neat thing to perceive.

In short, I adore the concept, the respect for the franchise and the ambition behind it all, but a few elements does tend to make the center of the picture a little muddy in terms of clear details. It does show promise as to possible large-crowded pictures from your part in the future, though.

I can't honestly blame the Mermaid Queen for being mad. No one likes being all chained up!!! Still, she looks breathtakingly gorgeous as a chained up "Damsel in Distress" for our "Half Genie Heroine"(with some help from us, her controllers)to rescue!!! Her slim figure, her long flowing hair, her nice, well rounded, seashell covered breasts, all the little actual mermaids in the background cheering her on to break free, what's not to love here!?!? Like how you got the Queen and all her subjects reflections to show up in the water! This may have taken 40 hours, but it was clearly worth it!!!! Love it!!!
